Some American English sounds are simply not found in Slavic languages, such as the /th/ sound. There are also stress differences applied to words and syllables, and Slavic and American speech have different intonation patterns - which is the melody of the speech. Many Slavic speakers anticipate that consonants will be their greatest challenge, but are often surprised to learn that mastery of vowels is much harder.
