Proven self-help American accent techniques can help you be better understood.
To be a great communicator in English  do the following:
  • Listening. Pay attention to what your speech partner is saying and how he is saying it. Does he look sad? If you don’t recognize a word or concept, ask him to explain or look it up in a dictionary app. Nowadays technology is at your fingertips.
  • Reading. Read books and/or magazines that interest you. Read signs you come across. Read out loud and in front of a mirror. When you read or practice speaking in front of a mirror it’s almost like practicing with another person. Use intonation, to make the words come to life. Read one paragraph and then ask yourself what is the main point of this paragraph? Sure, this is a slower way to read, but it will help you understand what you’re reading and make it more meaningful. If you don’t understand a word write it down and look it up in your dictionary app. Then use it frequently during the day at work or socially. The app usually has an audio so be sure to pronounce the new word accurately.

  • Speaking. Write down a word or words you say frequently, perhaps “thank you” with a correct “th”. Write down a sentence that you use to greet a colleague and say it with correct speech. If you use certain explanations or things that you frequently say at work, write them down and practice speaking them with an American accent and intonation pattern. So once you know how to pronounce the words correctly, you will be able to dazzle your colleagues and boss (and with a painless strategy)

Be patient. It takes time and lots of practice to speak a new language fluently, smoothly grammatically correct and without an accent. at first you will need to pay attention to how you are speaking as well as to what you are saying, but with time and perhaps with a good American English Specialist, you will be speaking with an American accent.

If you need more guidance with the above suggestions please contact me with your questions. I would love to hear from you. Let me know what is important to you so I can address your concerns.
